What We Can Do -
Under Texas Government Code §406.016, a commissioned Texas notary has the same authority as a county clerk to perform the following acts :
Take acknowledgments — Verify that a signer personally appeared and acknowledged signing a document.
Take proofs of written instruments — Confirm the validity of signatures through credible witnesses.
Administer oaths and affirmations — Swear in individuals for affidavits or sworn statements.
Protest negotiable instruments — Perform formal protests for instruments permitted by law (e.g., dishonored checks).
Take depositions — As allowed under Civil Practice & Remedies Code §20.001.
Certify copies — Certify copies of documents not recordable in public records.
A Texas notary also has statewide jurisdiction and may perform notarial acts anywhere within Texas
What We Cannot Do -
Texas notaries are prohibited from performing acts outside the scope of Chapter 406 and Secretary of State rules, including:
Provide Legal Advice — No document interpretation or certificate selection.
Notarize Without Personal Appearance — Signer must appear in person or via approved online notarization.
Notarize Incomplete Documents — All fields must be complete.
Use Prohibited Titles — Terms like notario are not permitted.
Act With Personal Interest — No notarization where a financial or beneficial interest exists.
Accept Improper ID — ID must be valid and acceptable under Texas rules.

Travel, Convenience & Printing Fee Schedule
Travel, convenience, and printing fees are not state‑regulated and are separate from the statutory notarial fees listed under Texas Government Code §406.024.
All non‑regulated fees are disclosed in advance and agreed upon before services are performed.
Travel Fees
Travel fees are not regulated by Texas Government Code §406.024 and are set according to distance, time, and client‑requested mobility.
Local Travel Fee — $20–$35
For appointments within city limits or up to ~10 miles.
Extended Travel Fee — $40–$75
For travel beyond 10–50 miles
Long‑Distance Travel — $75+
For travel exceeding 50 miles or requiring significant drive time.
Convenience Fees
Convenience fees apply only when additional time or special conditions are required.
Waiting Time — $10 per 15 minutes
For delays beyond the scheduled appointment window.
Special Location Access — $10–$25
For facilities requiring security check‑in, escorts, or extended processing (hospitals, jails, corporate offices).
Emergency /After Hours Scheduling — $20–$40
For urgent or appointments outside standard business hours
Printing & Document Handling
Printing and document‑handling fees are not governed by §406.024 and may be charged when preparation or document management is requested.
Document Printing — $0.10–$0.15 per page
Standard black‑and‑white printing.
Document Packaging — $5–$15
